MFA Research ProjectPainted Pools:
a lens into subjectivity The MFA project explores the notion of water as a metaphor for life. The waterscape paintings are presented in a sequence that can be read as a narrative of the passage of life itself. They flow from abstraction to representational imagery where water is conceived as a primordial beginning; to a mental conception of waves; to an image that represents the experience of being physically thrust into the waves; and then to representational images of surfaces of water that explore, in varying ways, the way light and dark plays on the surface and beneath the waves of water. |
